Overstrand Provision

Our Overstrand classroom provides support and intervention for children with social communication needs.  Typically, the children who receive support in Overstrand are on the Autistic Spectrum.

Children are able to access the provision alongside their class provision.  The amount of time they spend in each setting will depend on their individual needs.  We aim for children to be integrated with their peers as much as possible – children access their classroom as much as possible to suit their needs and spend play and lunchtimes together every day.

Our Overstrand provision enables us to provide specific interventions such as Attention Skills (based on the Attention Autism approach), Sensory Circuits (a sensory motor skills programme) and TACPAC (sensory communication sessions based on touch and music.)   It also provides us with a space in which to facilitate a TEACCH approach to learning.  (Read more about the TEACCH approach here).

Overstrand Home Learning WC 9th November

Posted on Saturday, November 7th, 2020

If your child is in Heacham or Snettisham class, but regularly access the Overstrand provision, you can follow the learning activities here to supplement those on Heacham or Snettisham class blogs, or to replace them if your child is unable to access those activities.

We recognise that the activities below will be new to many parents and may be overwhelming to try to provide for your child.  We appreciate anything you can do to support your child whilst they are learning from home, even if you are not able to complete all the activities.  At first glance, the timetable and activities may look very complicated, but follow the same pattern (and often repeat the same activities) each day.  As always, please email me if there’s any extra support, advice or information you need!  s.allen@gf.kwestacademy.com

Mrs Allen
