Hello to all the new Blakeney students that will be joining me this year!
I am really looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you over the coming term. On our first day back, I have some lovely fun activities organised and you don’t need to worry about a thing – the plan is to just let you enjoy being back at school and have fun seeing all your classmates.
For your general information, I am putting our Autumn Timetable on here so you can see when you have PE and Swimming. You’ll see we have PE tomorrow so please come to school with your PE kits if you see this in time! If not, don’t worry. I am also sharing some spelling and timestables resources that will come in handy for you and your parents during the Autumn Term. But don’t worry – you don’t need to do anything with them right now! I will go over everything in class when we meet.
For now, just enjoy the rest of your time at home and I’ll see you in the morning!!
Blakeney Timetable Autumn 1 (subject to possible changes during the term)
PE is every Monday. A school PE kit will be required and don’t forget it may be getting cold soon so make sure you have warm jumpers/leggings/track suit bottoms in school colours. PE shoes are required too. In year 5, children are responsible for organising their own bags and kits. It will be useful if you put a copy of the timetable on your wall at home and pack your bag the night before school.
Swimming is every Wednesday. You will need a costume and swimming hat. Hats can be purchased at school for 20p.
Year 5 and 6 Statutory Spellings to be learned this year
These words will be introduced to you gradually over the course of the year. You may know some already. We will aim to learn three a week and use them in our writing! But it is a good idea to practise them at home too.
Year 5 Weekly Spelling lists that we will be studying this term.
Though we practise these in school, some of you may like to study your lists for ten minutes a day with someone at home. But remember – just focus on one list a week.
Daily Times Tables Practise for pupils who are not yet confident with them
Feel free to practise at home if you want to develop your confidence when we do Tackling Tables in class. You can do ten minutes a day – small acts lead to big changes!
