Blakeney/Cromer Education City Assignments are ready!
Good news everyone! The new bi-weekly assessments are now ready for you to complete. The assessments and the accompanying skills activities will be available until Sunday 7th February.
What work has been set in Education City?
Children have two assessments to complete over the next two weeks. One in Maths and one for Reading Comprehension. They can choose whether to work at a Year 5 or Year 6 level. The Maths assessment will generate revision journals for each individual child. The Reading assessment will not. However, there are three skills development activities which have been assigned for those children who discover they have difficulties during the assessment. Again – childen should work at the appropriate level on these (Year 5 or Year 6).
The assessments are as follows:
Y5 and Y6 Assessment in Maths –Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.
Children to choose the level they want to work at. This short assessment is comprised of 15 fixed questions designed to be completed in around 20 minutes. Students are able to review their answers at the end and a Revision Journal is generated based on areas of need. .
Y5 and Y6 Reading Assessment – Non-Fiction Text 1
Children choose the level they want to work at. This formative assessment is to be completed in about 20 minutes. Students are able to review their answers at the end but a Revision Journal is not generated. Instead, three activities which develop non-fiction skills have been set at both Year 5 and Year 6 level for those children do have difficulties during the assessment.
How long will we have to complete the work and can we do extra if we finish early?
This work is set until 7th February. If children finish these tasks before that date and wish to explore the site looking for work which they personally find useful, that is a good use of their time and also encourages them to think as independent learners.
There is not only Maths and English work available. Science work is also offered for those who would enjoy exploring that subject. There are no restrictions – it’s all learning!
Have fun kids!
