Welcome to week beginning Monday 18th Jan. 2021

Welcome to another week of learning and achieving Winterton. What will you achieve this week? Show me!

Can I ask that when you send me your work, you put all your work for that day in one email at the end of the day? Otherwise, if I have to open one email for each piece of work from each of you, that is on average 85 emails per day!

Also, please make sure you scroll right to the end of the blog for important reminders.

R.E.

In R.E. this week we are exploring what Augustine of Hippo said.

Augustine lived in Roman Africa where people went in search of happiness. Very similar to modern day in Britain. Augustine believed in original sin.

What did he mean by that?

One day there will be a city of God established.

What did Augustine say our attitude should be towards this life? (momentary sufferings compared with what awaits us when we die.)

Look at this Week 3 St Augustine as an introduction to St Augustine of Hippo.

Watch video on St Augustine as an example of a Christian philosopher and discuss.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBAxUBeVfsk

Can you explain why your own answers to ultimate questions may differ from those of others?

Can you explain your own values and remain respectful of those with different values?

Art:

Your task last week was to have a go at the hurricane drawing. This is quite a big task so you might need more time. Go to the video and follow on from the point you got to. If you haven’t started this yet, you will need plain paper, a pencil, eraser and colouring pencils.

There is should be plenty of work for you here. Remember you need to do your Power Maths lesson everyday now you can log in. If I haven’t told you that you are in a specific colour group, do the work that does not have a group name. I will try to improve this for next week, but I will have to email you all individually to tell you which group you are in – be patient!

Again, please try to send one email everyday with all that day’s work attached. I should hear from you every day. I will be contacting you all again this week. I will try to ring the same day as I did last week, but it will probably be a with-held number as I will ring from home this time rather than school.

Have a really good week, doing lots of work and keeping up with your learning – it is your responsibility to do so. Also try to make life as easy for your parents as possible – they may be struggling too!

Keep safe, keep smiling and be kind!

Mrs. Marshall
