I hope you had a good weekend and are refreshed and ready to begin another week of learning at home.

Week Beginning Monday 11th January 2021.

Below are the lessons/activities for this week. Although we are not in school we must continue to work as near normally as possible.

Please make sure you work through the lessons and activities below so when we are together again we are all in the same place in our learning.

Bug Club and Power Maths can be accessed using your Active Learn logins. Activities on Education City are updated weekly which you can also access using the logins for that site.

As always, I can be contacted via the school office or on my email – d.hartley@gf.kwestacademy.com. Don’t hesitate to email and let me know if you need anything to support your learning. I look forward to seeing your completed work.

If possible, can all the examples of work you send me be put into a word document and sent in one go with any comments you may have about how your child/ren managed the activities. This makes saving and organising your messages much easier. The comments are helpful regarding which activities to use in future planning. Thank you!

This is a suggested timetable for your day:

8.45 – 9.00 – spelling/times table practise

9.00 – 10.00 – Maths

10.00 – 10.15 – Have a break and a well-earned snack!

 10.15 – 10.35 – Phonics

10.35 – 11.30 – English

11.30 – 12.00 – Reading and  handwriting practise

Each day work on one of our other subjects or/and spend some time on EdCity.

Remember – EdCity is NOT instead of the other lessons; it is just one part of the curriculum as a whole.

There is also a Homework Grid you can chose activities from.

Maths:

Use the activities in this link during the week to Warm up to your maths. There are different levels of ability – start low and aim high.  Warmup Mat 

Power Maths: Unit6 Multiplication and Division.

I have uploaded the Starter and  Lessons 1 to 7. Last week several children were unable to use the connect to Power Maths using the link on the class site. I have reloaded last week’s work and some for this week – but not as much. Do your best to catch up by Friday if you can.

From now on you will access Power Maths through Active Learn as you do Bug Club.

Foundation Subjects

Topic:

Look at the timeline of inventions – Inventions

Choose an invention you like, draw a picture of it and say why you like it.

Science:

Use the ppt. to practise identifying the seasons – identify-the-seasons-interactive-pdf_ver_1

Go for a walk or if that is not possible look out of your window. What does the landscape look like? How is it different to Autumn? Think about the weather and the amount of daylight there is. Choose a way to record what you have discovered.

If you can’t do the PE activities because of a lack of space etc at least go out for a walk/run or a bike ride with your adult.

Art/DT:

Recap on the decisions you made last week  about a collage of the Great Fire of London. Look back at the pictures in last week’s blog if you can’t remember them. On a piece of paper, larger than A4 if you can but no bigger than A3 sketch the outlines of the picture you wish to create as a collage.
