Another Week of Learning!

Hello Brancaster!  Welcome to week 2 of this new term. I hope you rested this weekend after a busy start last week!

My emails were full last week with lots of your lovely work – I was very pleased with you all! Let’s keep it up this week by working through the lessons and activities I have suggested below. Don’t hesitate to email and let me know if you need anything to support your learning. I look forward to seeing your completed work. As always, I can be contacted via the school office or on my email – a.sayer@gf.kwestacademy.com.

New activities on Education City can be found at https://go.educationcity.com/

Remember to log on to Tackling Tables and practise! Let me know how you get on – https://www.tacklingtables.co.uk/. I would like all of you to complete at least one Tackling Tables test this week, but like always, the more you do, the more likely you will receive the Tackling Tables star award!

Note: Tackling Tables test scores will not reach my account if you did not press the tick button at the end of the test – please remember to do this! You must all complete (get a score of 100) the blue level before you do any green or red level tests as they will not register to my account if you haven’t completed the blue first.

Please remember to complete a task a week from the new homework grid for this half-term. Here is a link for you to look at: Year 3 and 4 Homework Grid Spring 1 . Please email me your photos so we can celebrate together!

Topic

You will have looked at the story of ‘St George and the Dragon’ last week. If not, watch it here: https://vimeo.com/102942550

The story has a link to Wales: can you remember anything about Wales from our Topic last term? Look at the map of the UK and locate Wales.

Watch the video clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2OKzuPicjs

Watch this lesson about Wales: https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/what-is-the-geography-of-wales-61jpar?from_query=Wales

Create a fact file about Wales. This can be recorded as a PowerPoint or on paper.

Art

Have a go at sketching a dragon eye using a pencil. Watch this to help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajgasxmb5yc

Computing

In our last lesson, you would have learnt about algorithms.

Algorithms – a process or a set of rules a computer programme follows to complete a task.

Your task this week is a fun one! Give your parent a set of instructions to carry out. This could be a simple activity e.g. pull a chair out from under the table, but make sure the instructions are clear for them!

Just like a computer programme, if you don’t give them clear instructions, they will do something silly and possibly the complete opposite to what you wanted them to do to begin with!

Have fun and remember to write down the instructions for your parent/brother/sister to follow.

Music
