Winterton bubble’s first full week.

Good afternoon everyone!

Well, we have finished our first full week and we have been very busy! We began the week by completing some PiXL assessments to show some areas of work we might need a little support with over the next few weeks. Everyone worked really hard on these and I will be feeding back to individual children on how they managed and looking at some possible support to cover things you may have forgotten over the lockdown.  We are also in the middle of producing ‘All About Me’ cubes which we will display in the classroom. In addition we have written our ‘Superhero Identities’ – all top secret of course! We will make a ‘Winterton Superheroes’ book for us all to look at.

We have been completing Power Maths units every day, where we are looking at number and place value. I’m so pleased with the progress that I have seen so far – keep it up Winterton! Today we have written a class poem titled ‘Behind the magical door I saw …’ to start our Talk for Writing unit, and we will be writing it up in our books next week. I was amazed by the wonderful ideas Winterton bubble had. We have begun to study ‘Earth and Space’ in science and spent the lesson this week looking at evidence for the Earth being flat and the Earth being spherical to discuss the concept of evidence in science. In music we listened to some wonderful music played entirely using body percussion that sounded just like a storm in a rain forest! We were all amazed that the human body could produce such sounds. We have had our first P.E lesson with Mr. Collison which was fun (well done everyone for remembering to come to school in your P.E. kit); and some of us had our first swimming lesson in year 6. If you didn’t swim this week, remember your group will be next week – bring your swimming kit on Wednesday.

I am really sorry that I did not get time to take a photo of our display that I promised last week, but I will try hard to get it for next Friday’s blog.

I look forward to seeing the homework you have chosen to do this afternoon. Remember you can email me a photo of your work, or bring it in on Monday. I will make sure I sanitise my hands before I look at it!

Have a lovely weekend and make sure you rest ready for another busy week next week!

Take care and keep safe

Mrs. M
