Welcome back Heacham!
Heacham class have had a lovely week getting to know each other, and welcoming out little Reception cohort on the days that they were in. It was pointed out to me that we have to look after Reception, because they are “so small and brand new.” This is true, and I’m glad that an ancient year 1 could tell me! It is lovely to see how last year’s reception have matured into such grown up year ones, and nice to see some familiar faces back this year.
This week was about getting to know each other and our new environment. We are now using all three rooms of the reception/y1 area to allow for more space for the children and that took a little while for the children to get used to. They don’t have to ask to go into another area or outside if there is an adult out there as we are using continuous provision to allow them to lead their own learning for parts of the day.
We have started to look at traditional tales in preparation for our work on Goldilocks and the Three Bears next week, when we will be following our timetable more vigorously. If you’ve got a copy at home, We will be starting Wellbeing Wednesday, and this week we are learning about Roger the Routine Rooster and how important a good routine can be for us.
We’ll be starting our Power Maths this week as well, and the children seem keen to get on with it after the introductory session we had on Friday.
On Wednesday we will have PE in the afternoon, so the children need to come to school in their PE kits please.
You may have noticed a lack of photographs in this post so far. We are just waiting for all of the photo permission forms to come back so that we know who we can and can’t put onto the website, and then you will be able to see what the children have been up to. I’ll do a post about the setting later in the week so that you can see where your children are.
Take care of yourselves, and remember you can email me about anything ( firstname.lastname@example.org) as I know face to face time is so limited these days.
