First Week Back in Blakeney
Welcome back to school Blakeney! It’s been absolutely fantastic getting to know you all and seeing you have fun together. Things are certainly different but we’ve been noticing some interesting positives that have made us wonder why we haven’t always done things this way!
For example, children now have their own place to play at break time and lunch time; each week they rotate between the football pitch, the tyres & pavilion or the front garden. They play together nicely and even have their own play equipment. I’ve even been teaching some of the girls how to use a diablo (a circus game).
We also tried something else new this week : signing the song, Roar, by Katy Perry. Presently, we can’t sing in the classroom as our numbers are too great so instead we have been learning sign language. It’s been pretty amazing to see how quickly the class picked up the signs. After signing the song three times, we had a competition to see who could remember the signs for certain words and phrases. It was a draw!
Lunches are now eaten in the classroom and so during lunch, the children have been able to relax watching Planet Earth while they eat. That’s something they couldn’t do before!
The children have been superb about learning new habits too – I’m so proud of the positive attitude and community spirit that I’ve witnessed. We really are all pulling together to ensure that the safety measures we have in place are followed so that we can all continue coming to school without having to self-isolate.
Let’s keep that up children and don’t forget:
- only bring packed lunch and water bottle (sports) to school
- try not to touch your faces
- cough/sneeze into your elbow
- only go home with an adult from your home
- arrive at the correct time in the mornings (avoid other bubbles).
We are really proud of everyone for settling in so well after being home for so long. Well done Blakeney!
