The week ahead 29th October
Welcome back to the second half term of the school year.
Firstly, apologies for not sending home the Common Exception Words tests, but I was taken ill on the last day of the half term and for the first time in 20 years of teaching, I was sent home from school. I’m all better now, and raring to go!
The week ahead looks like this :
Monday – assessments, Mrs Copsey in the afternoon, parent’s evening 3:30-7pm.
Tuesday – assessments, Mrs Shaw in the afternoon, swimming, parent’s evening 3:30-5pm (fully booked).
Thursday – Library in the afternoon
In Literacy we are starting a new book called Gordon’s Great Escape, and this week we will be internalising the text, looking at the book as a reader, and as a writer.
In Mathematics, we are going to apply our place value work to multiplication, looking at doing it via repeated addition to start with, before progressing onto arrays. It’s really important that the children know their tables, but also that they know what they mean.
In Science we are starting work on healthy eating and food groups.
It’s going to be a very exciting half term in lots of ways. Keep watching out on here for announcements of events!
