The week ahead – 25th-30th September.

The week ahead has us really settling into our routines and work now.

In Numeracy, we will be moving on from adding using the bar method, and looking at adding on a number line, using bigger numbers.

In Literacy we will write a class version of “Charlie’s Walk” once we have written some lists of ideas for where he could go.

P.E. is carrying on with our dance sessions indoors.  Last week we thought about cold weather, this week we move onto rainstorms and welly dancing!

Our topic carries on with the Wright Brothers, and we’ve decided now whether we would or wouldn’t want to go in the aeroplane.  In the week coming up we will be thinking about what the world would be like without their invention, and labelling the materials that were used in their plane, and those which are used in a modern plane.  Without other inventors, would we still be stuck on the ground?

In Science we are planning an experiment about paper, which the children will perform next week.  Through that, we will look at the different properties of different types of paper, and which ones are more suitable for which job.

Our computing lesson will be thinking about what we think is inside a computer.

R.E. this week is about those people who we think are special around us, and what makes them special.

PATHs carries on looking at feelings. Last week we got our happy, sad and private faces, and the children are encouraged to use them to show how they are feeling, whilst recognising that all feelings are acceptable to have, it’s what we do with them that matters!

Monday – Library and PE

Tuesday – Swimming

Lastly, Friday saw a bumper lot of paperwork going home.  The  children had their usual spelling homework, as well as their EducationCity logins and instructions, and their parents evening sign up details.  If you think you are missing anything, just drop me an email ( and let me know.

See you on Monday,

Miss Cook
