This week we discovered ten frames. We also decided on the rules for our ten frames so that we would all use them the same way and therefore we would use them more quickly. We had a ten frame car park to park our ten frame cars in, and we talked about ten frames on the board. We rolled a die to see what the number was, and then we made it as quickly as we could. We also started to use stem sentences to grow our mathematical thinking.
Later on we began to learn the Tens Frame Song
Tens frames are a way of us learning to make and visualise numbers, to make sure that we have a real understanding about what they are.
We can make a tens frame at home and use pennies for the counters, to help us practice.
